Anslwithers?s travel blog entry: ?We turned up in Hua Shan expecting a small town and weren?t disappointed. The ?hotel? is probably about the limit of what we?re willing to accept but it was at least cheap at 7 quid. The mountains were spectacular but amazingly busy. We?re starting to realise that, unlike the admittedly sparsely populated Australia, here the sights are seen by thousands every day (with barely a Westerner in sight). Indeed we had to queue for about an hour to get the cable car up the mountain to the North Peak. Queuing is clearly not something that comes easily to people here. Unless there is a solid fence to corral people with then it?s a free-for-all. We had to queue on the way down too and it seemed to be the little old biddies who were the worst at shoving and pushing round but we were nothing if not robust and I?d like to think we taught them a few things about the noble British past-time of queuing. Anyway the mountains were very high (over 2000ms) and very picturesque with narrow paths on cliff faces or ridges where you could go higher and higher and higher. We were led to believe by the Lonely Planet that a 90 minute hike would take us to the East Peak but after nearly 2 hours we gave up, having decided we were high enough. It really was punishing climbing, although there were a few muscley men who were going ?
