Thousands of college graduates at 2011 commencement ceremonies this spring have enjoyed inspiring oratories by the likes of Denzel Washington, former president Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder and both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.In a compilation video, CBS News has mashed up the best of the heartfelt pep talks that celebrities have given to the cap-and-gown crowd. (One quibble: the compilation video overlooks Amy Poehler's hilarious speech at Harvard, which gets our vote for one of the best this year.)
'Larry Crowne' star Tom Hanks, addressing a sea of Yale grads, naturally comes across as the most likeable of the bunch. According to Yale Daily News, the bespectacled Oscar winner spoke about the role of both fear and faith in making life choices, and he advised his young audience to remember the sacrifices of American military veterans past and present.
