X Factor's Mary Byrne: America doesn't understand about Cheryl Cole's heartache

Irish X factor finalist still thinks that Cheryl Cole has fair chance of making it in the US

X Factor finalist Mary Byrne reckons that Cheryl Cole could still make it big in the US.

'Victoria Beckham has made it over there, so she obviously stands a reasonable chance,' says the Irish singer.

Cheryl's still waiting to find out if she's going to be a judge on the US version of the talent show. And if she does surprise everyone by grabbing that dream job, Mary believes she'll do well.

'I think she would be good,' Mary, 51, tells Digital Spy, 'but I don't think the US would get her in the same way that we do.

"They don't know the things that she's been through - the good times and the sad parts - but we've followed her through it.'

While she plays the waiting game in LA, Cheryl - who's attempting to quit smoking - has turned to comfort food, bingeing on chips, delivery pizza and KFC.�

'Cheryl's in a bad place emotionally at the moment,' a friend tells Now.

'She feels like the world' against her and nothing's going right.'

A source close to her official camp insists she's not having a meltdown or feeling ill and is busy working.
