LONG BEACH (KTLA) -- A twin engine plane crashed and exploded into a fireball at Long Beach Municipal Airport, killing five people.
The accident happened at 10:30 a.m. as the plane was taking off for Salt Lake City, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.
A witness reported seeing a large fireball after the impact, Gregor said.
There were six people on the plane, according to Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fire Department.
