The girl weighed 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 18 inches long; her brother weighed 5 pounds 6 ounces, and was 19 inches long. The couple's rep said the babies have not yet been named.

Although Carey has yet to Tweet or talk about the exciting news, she was showered with congrats from celeb pals on Twitter, like first-time mom-to-be Alyssa Milano, Nicki Minaj, Jermaine Dupri and Katy Perry.

Female Talent in China: Challenges and Opportunities

Sylvia Ann Hewlett reports in a guest post from Forbes Woman.

To outsiders, the Chinese economic juggernaut seems unstoppable. Insiders, however, know that the continued success of the world?s second-largest economy ? and that of multinational corporations pinning their financial future on its vast market ? faces a substantial obstacle: an intensifying war for top home-grown talent.

A new study by the Center for Work-Life Policy spotlights a solution that, up to now, has received almost no attention: educated Chinese women. More than 125 representatives of multinationals and local organizations ? both men and women ? gathered in Beijing recently for a conference presenting the data. For many, the research findings were startling, as were its implications for their own talent challenges.

To begin with, the study found, Chinese women are graduating from universities at nearly the same rate as men. Women also represent nearly 40 percent of MBA students at such top-ranked programs as China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and Tsinghua University, aka ?the Chinese MIT.?

Chinese women consider themselves very ambitious at nearly twice the rate of their U.S. counterparts ? 65% versus 36%. Having been born under China?s one-child policy, today?s 20- and 30-year-olds received the full force of their entire family?s hopes and dreams.

?They definitely don?t have an issue with self-worth,? noted one executive, a comment backed up by CWLP statistics: 83% are eager to be promoted and 76% want the top job.

Furthermore, as Denice Kronau, Siemens? Chief Diversity Officer, points out, China?s career women have a wealth of role models, starting with their mothers: 82% of the women surveyed had mothers who worked. They also have what Pully Chau, Chairman and CEO, Greater China Draftfcb, calls ?a cultural inheritance for multi-tasking. We?re used to being good moms, good daughters and good leaders. That makes us able to sustain high performance in tough times.?

But while the CWLP report describes the many strengths educated women bring to their employers, conference participants were quick to identify the forces that threaten the full utilization of this vital tranche of talent.

?There?s a huge price to pay for family values,? observes Cezary Statuch, Vice President Medical Emerging Markets, Bristol-Myers Squibb. Nearly all Chinese women ? 95 percent ? already shoulder eldercare burdens, obligations which will only increase in synch with China?s rapidly aging society. ?Daughterly guilt? affects an extraordinary 88% of respondents. Maternal guilt hits 86%. ?It?s harder for women to balance marriage, children, eldercare and careers, and, as a result, it will be harder for employers? says Kelvin Koh, Director of Greater China Research, Goldman Sachs.

Extreme jobs have become the norm. Survey respondents in full-time jobs average 71 work hours a week at global multinationals and 72 hours a week in China-headquartered companies.

The situation is getting worse: 31% report working more hours currently than they did three years ago, an average of an additional 18 hours per week. On top of this are crushing travel demands, with 30 percent of the women surveyed reporting a large amount of domestic travel as a regular part of their work.

The toll is tremendous. Attendees heard about an executive woman at a multinational technology firm who plaintively requested, ?I just want to have one meal with my family every day.? When her request was ignored, she saw no option but to quit. ?Something clearly needs to be done or this will deplete the female workforce early in their careers,? warns Kelvin Koh.

Bruins Pound Flyers 7-3 In Game 1 Of Second Round

PHILADELPHIA -- David Krejci and Brad Marchand each scored two goals, and the Boston Bruins took out their frustration from one of the great collapses in postseason history with a 7-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Bruins chased goalie Brian Boucher by taking a 5-1 lead in the second period. New round, same problem for the Flyers. Philadelphia used two goalies in three of its seven first-round games against Buffalo.

For the second straight season, the Bruins lead the Flyers in the second round. The Bruins led 3-0 a year ago, then the Flyers became the third NHL team to rally with four straight victories to win a best-of-seven series.

Nathan Horton, Mark Recchi and Gregory Campbell also scored for Boston.

Game 2 is Monday in Philadelphia.

Since beating Montreal to advance to the second round, the Bruins had insisted they wouldn't be haunted by last year's epic collapse.

Perhaps it is fitting that Krejci was the Game 1 star.

Krejci watched Boston give away the series from the sidelines after he was knocked out of Game 3 a year ago with a dislocated right wrist. He needed surgery and missed the rest of the series.

He wasted no time in aiding Boston's quest to erase those bad memories, scoring a backhander off a rebound 1:52 in. The goal foreshadowed what was to come ? Boston scored four of its five goals against Boucher on rebounds.

The Flyers did little to help Boucher, who won two games in relief vs. the Sabres, with lackluster play in front of the net. But Boucher failed to stop the often soft second chances.

He was yanked for rookie Sergei Bobrovsky late in the second period.

Tim Thomas, who saved 93 percent of his shots in the first round, was stout in net for the Bruins.

Danny Briere scored his seventh of the playoffs, and James van Riesmsdyk and Mike Richards added goals for the Flyers.

Briere tied it at 1-all, but Horton put the Bruins ahead for good with 36 seconds left in the first period. Boucher made the initial save on a shot to the gut, but Horton pounced and pounded the puck off Boucher's arm for a 2-1 lead.

Recchi didn't let the Flyers start yet another comeback with a quick goal 2:33 into the second. It was a soft rebounder that Boucher swiped at as it trickled behind him to the back of the net.

Krejci scored from the point and Marchand scored the fourth rebound goal with 2:46 left in the second for a 5-1 lead. That was all for Boucher.

Boucher, the Flyers' Game 7 winner, allowed five goals on 23 shots. Flyers coach Peter Laviolette again is forced to confront the weak link in the lineup. Bobrovsky won 28 games and started Games 1 and 2 against Buffalo. He was replaced by Boucher in Game 2 and never played again.

Richards, the Flyers captain, busted out of a scoring slump with his first goal of the postseason late in the third. His power-play goal made it 5-3.

Marchand quickly followed with his second goal for a 6-3 lead. Campbell completed the rout with 2:21 left.

Maybe the Flyers should have attempted more boarding, hooking, and high-sticking because even-strength play didn't help. Boston went 0 for 5 on the power play and extended their drought to 0 for 26 in the postseason. The Bruins went 0 for 21 against the Canadiens and became the first team to win a seven-game series without scoring a power-play goal.

Laviolette said the day before Game 1 he doesn't believe in momentum.

"I believe in desperation," he said.

The Flyers are desperate again.

Note: Boston won the season series 3-1. ... Laviolette was an assistant coach for the Bruins in 2000-01. ... The Flyers are 15-20 in a series when they lose Game 1.
